Thank heaven my typical m.o. for speaking without thinking was on delay today. Board of Directors was standing up here getting some candy out of our Halloween bowl when I handed him a Payday. I almost said, “here, you need some nuts in your life.”
I would never have been able to live that one down.
Bossman went fishing off the coast a couple of weeks ago and actually caught a salmon. The running joke is that he goes fishing but not catching. He doesn’t like seafood, so he always has it cleaned/packaged and gives it out to us. I had my fillet last night and it was pretty good. It would have been excellent had I not cooked it for 40 minutes. I need more practice. It wasn’t bad…just a tad dry.
B comes home tomorrow afternoon. Thankfully. I haven’t been sleeping well. I normally must get up no later than 6:10 a.m. in order to shower, feed the dogs, get ready and out the door by 6:50. My drop dead time to leave is 6:55. That is usually pushing it and I end up racing the MAX to the station. This morning I did not even get up until 6:42 a.m. (yes, I am exacting when it comes to time). Needless to say, there was no train in my schedule today. Oddly enough, Jester and Precious have been sleeping through the night since B left.
I haven’t been able to accomplish as much as I’d like to around the house. I was thinking about trying to buy a small medicine cabinet to hang in the main bathroom. Truthfully, though, I just don’t feel like dealing with it. Part of me is glad I didn’t stay home this week because I’m definitely not in the mood to paint. I have given myself a very long to-do list despite my lack of interest.
We have an election coming up that only has 2 measures on the ballot. I think I know how I’m going to vote, but I’m just not sure what’s best for the state. Both are very hot issues right now. In fact, Measure 49 had around 60 pages of for/against arguments in the voters pamphlet. So I need to decide before November 4 or so (we have mail-in voting in Oregon) and get my ballot in the mail.
Mom and C head off to Yuma early next week. They’ll be working through the winter down there and come back in April. They also work for FEMA whenever a disaster strikes. They have yet to be activated and are wondering if they’ll be sent down to Southern California to help with the aftermath of the wildfires.
Somehow the fact that a new season of The Amazing Raceis starting on November4 escaped my knowledge. I am definitely losing my touch. I’m hoping that it will be more interesting that in recent seasons. They have done away with two legs and all the non-elimination pit-stops.
Last night’s The Office was hilarious. I wish I had asked Tivo to keep it so I could watch it again.
